Stone Details Awarded Pinnacle Survey at Waldorf Astoria Hotel, NYC
Stone Details, LLC work in progress Case Study for the restoration of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York city. The exciting work involves the documentation of two, multi-story landmark structures on the top of the building, known as Pinnacles. The iconic brick and stone structures with copper domes are uniquely recognizable from the street, even though they are over 40 stories above the ground. The brick and masonry portion of the structures will be demolished and rebuilt to match the original condition. Stone Details will provide laser scan and total station survey services to document the exterior of the structures followed by a dimensional survey of the limestone veneer and intricate limestone grill work which provides ventilation to the interior. Stone Details will then prepare shop drawings of these structures for the contractor to use to build new pinnacles to match the original buildings. The work is being performed for Pullman Services, a premier restoration contractor in New York City
