Shop Drawings in Action
For an exciting look at a real world example of shop drawings in action, see the Period Homes article on Townhome Stonework. In this article, Judy Hayward of Active Interest Media and Historic Windsor, writes about the process of dressing townhouses with dimensional stone. She interviews experts on the subject including Laurie Wells of Old World Stone, Michael Lynch of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation as well as Alan Barr of Stone Details. Alan Barr discusses the completion of a townhouse project in New York City where the entire façade of an upper east side townhouse was reclad in limestone to match it’s original appearance. Stone Details provided the field measuring and drafting services required on this project to detail the installation of the new stone veneer, balustrades, window surrounds, brackets and door architraves.
